Terrors waking that morning will find a few things amiss with the ship: 1. it's hot and humid inside their cabins, and 2. the ship itself is rocking.  Swaying, in fact, as though the ice beneath them has melted and the ship is moving. Which it is, actually, and quite quickly too.

The holes in the side of Terror have been repaired, the rigging put up on the masts, the dual wheels of the helm moving as the ship races through the waves on its own. Up above the sun is shining brightly.
H.M.S. Terror is sailing once more, destination unknown.

He opens his eyes, startled for half a moment as he got used to the darkened lenses. "Oh." These moments were the ones that caught him off guard, where he expected one thing from Dorian and was proven wrong. Thomas is so rarely wrong about people that it is a new feeling to process.

He brushes his forelock from his face, tucking it behind his ear and shakes his head in disbelief. "Thank you."

"You're welcome," Dorian casually says, like it's no big deal. "I'll leave you alone for now. But I'm going to hold you to seeing you again this evening. After all, you'll have to return my sunglasses eventually."

And what better way to return them than to visit Dorian's room when nobody else is there! Perfect planning.

He shoots him a quick look of warning, mouth setting into a line. The ease with which he simply mentions Thomas' return that evening reddens his already sun-tinged cheeks and he swallows back a quick reply. "I thank you for your hospitality, sir, but I do not wish it to be a burden for you."

"You won't be a burden!" Dorian cheerfully responds, absolutely ignoring that look of warning Thomas is giving him and grinning like a madman as he sees the other man blush. Victory for Dorian.

"But that's something we can discuss later. I'll let you get back to your charts."

"Good day, sir," he mutters, pulling over his journal to chart the next course change. He wants Dorian gone so he can simply enjoy his work- and the ability to watch him without anyone noticing.
